Thailand
Thailand is a popular solo travel destination for a variety of reasons. For Westerners who have never visited Asia, it is really exotic, and you really feel as if you are out there exploring the world.
Bangkok is easily accessible from anywhere in the world, and once there, you can travel around the country by plane, bus, or train. The prices are fantastic, so you won’t have to worry about paying for a whole hotel room on your own, which can be costly while traveling alone.
Cambodia
Cambodia is a popular backpacker destination in Southeast Asia, so you’ll have no trouble meeting other travelers if that’s your target. Cambodia’s tourist infrastructure, similar to Thailand’s, makes it an excellent destination for women traveling alone, especially in Siem Reap.
There are five-star hotels (for a fraction of what you’d pay elsewhere) as well as hostels and everything in between, but no matter what your budget is, you’ll be able to find a nice place to stay in Cambodia. Travel in and around Cambodia is inexpensive, and the Cambodian people are extremely friendly.
Estonia
Estonia is a wonderful destination for solo females looking to get off the beaten path in Europe, thanks in part to the increasing popularity of Baltic Sea cruises. Every year, it grows in popularity, so don’t put off planning your trip! These three nations, along with Latvia and Lithuania, make up the Baltic states.
Estonia’s capital, Tallinn, is also easily accessible by ferry from Finland, so you can include Estonia in your Scandinavian itinerary. (Scandinavian countries have some of the world’s lowest crime rates, making them ideal for solo travel!) Although prices in Estonia are higher than in Southeast Asia, they are lower than in Scandinavia and comparable to some of the less expensive European cities.
Canada
Canada has something for everyone, whether you choose a cosmopolitan international city like Vancouver, the Old-World Europe feel of Montreal and Quebec, or outdoor adventure in the Canadian Rockies. Canadians are known for their politeness, and this is a generalization that is generally accurate. The country has a low crime rate throughout, and the atmosphere is similar to that of the United States, making it an excellent option for your first foreign trip. Prices in Canada can be a little high depending on the exchange rate, but there is almost always a wide variety of accommodation choices to choose from.
Aruba
Aruba is an ideal destination for solo female travelers looking for a Caribbean holiday. Aruba has excellent tourism facilities for a small island, including convenient access from the continental United States and hundreds of lodging options.
You’ll have no trouble finding tours to join when you’re not relaxing on the beach. These tours will allow you to explore the island while meeting other travelers. Locals are extremely friendly because tourism is such a big part of their economy. Aruba has just enough things to do to allow you to have a well-balanced vacation that includes both beach relaxation and outdoor adventure.
New York
New York is obviously easy to get to from every city in the world, and getting around once you’re there is a breeze. Sure, it’s not the most budget-friendly destination, but it’s well worth a solo trip!
New York is an ideal destination for women traveling alone, which might sound counterintuitive. The thing about big cities is that you can quickly blend in with the locals. You won’t stand out as “that lady staying alone” as you could in a small village somewhere, unlike in more rural destinations. Everyone in New York is too preoccupied with their own affairs to notice what you’re doing!
There are so many things to do in New York that being able to plan your own trip without having to compromise with a travel buddy is fantastic. Go ahead and spend an entire week tracking down locations from Sex in the City or Gossip Girl.
Philippines
The Philippines is a fantastic destination for first-time visitors to Asia, in my opinion. Unlike other prominent Southeast Asian destinations, the Philippines speaks English widely, so you won’t face the language barrier you would expect when visiting an Asian country.
There are over 7,000 islands to choose from once you arrive in the Philippines. If you want to spend your vacation relaxing on the beach, eating delicious Filipino food, or diving, there’s a Philippine Island that’s right for you.
Although it may not be as well-known as other Asian destinations such as Phuket, it does have a well-developed tourism infrastructure, ensuring your comfort. The Filipino people are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making this a fantastic destination for solo female travelers.
