Montreal’s largest airport, Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, opened on September 10, 1941, and serves the entire province of Quebec. It has domestic and foreign flights in the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, China, and several Central and South American locations.

The airport is located 24 km (15 miles) west of Montreal.

Facilities at Montreal Airport

Can you spend the night at the airport?

Since Montreal airport serves a large number of flights and connections, it is normal to see a large number of passengers waiting for their flight late at night. Since the area is very cold at night and has many lights, it is recommended that you bring a sleeping bag, blankets, and a mask. You must stay in the terminal’s public area before the security controls close for the night.

Are there places to drink and eat 24 hours?

Only fast food restaurants are open late at night.

Where to rest?

The seats are generally uncomfortable and have armrests, but the check-in area has better armchairs to rest in. Inside the terminal, there are some VIP lounges, but they close at night. There is a hotel directly linked to the main building for lodging.

Passengers with disabilities

Wide doors, ramps, elevators, moving walkways, accessible counters, modified telephones and restrooms, special lines at various controls, transportation vehicles, Braille signs, hygiene areas for service animals, and designated parking spaces are all available.

Vehicles designed for passengers with special needs are available from public transportation companies. On the Departures stage, wheelchairs may be requested at the information desks.

Montreal Airport provides public transportation, approved taxis, buses, private transfer companies, and car rental services to connect the airport to the city

Access by taxi

Ranks are located near the central exit on the Arrivals level. The fare to downtown Montreal is fixed, while the fare to other destinations is calculated using a meter. It takes 25-40 minutes to get to the city center.

Access by bus

The Société de Transport de Montréal’s Line 747 connects the airport and the Berri-UQAM metro station in the city center 24 hours a day. Travel time ranges from 45 to 70 minutes. It also stops at the Lionel-Groulx station between 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. (25-35 min.) Tickets are available for purchase at automated machines on the International Arrivals level and allow unrestricted travel for 24 hours.

The 204 Cardinal line also links the enclosure to the Dorval train station, while the 209 line connects it to the Roxboro-Pierrefonds train station.

Greyhound serves Ottawa and Gatineau, while Orléans Express serves Trois-Rivières, Ste-Foy, and Quebec. They are located on the International Arrivals level, both have counters.

Aéronavette provides door-to-door service to Sherbrooke, Magog/Orford, Bromont, Granby, L’Ange-Gardien, and Richelieu 24 hours a day.

In addition, four times a day during the winter season, minibuses from Autocars Skyport depart from gate 7 of the International Arrivals level and travel to Mont-Tremblant.

Access by train

Between the airport and the Dorval train station, there is a free minibus service. Through Rail trains with destinations along the Ottawa-Montreal, Toronto-Kingston-Montreal, and Quebec-Montreal routes can be boarded from there.

The Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel is connected to the terminal through the US Departures Hall. There are other options nearby, many of which provide courtesy transfers for their guests.
